Protection against moisture and condensation
Due to the structure of the back-ventilated rainscreen façade, the vapour diffusion resistance decreases from the inside to the outside. Any moisture from condensation or accumulated during construction is channelled away through the ventilated space.
The façade is the structural component, which is most likely to be damaged due to the constant
influence of the weather. Moisture damage and cracks will emerge over the years.
Back-ventilated rainscreen façades belong to the load group III according to DIN 4108-3 and are water resistant. The ventilation space between the insulation and lining (weather-resistance barrier) quickly voids dampness. Hung, ventilated façades can, therefore, be constructed with open, horizontal seams without decreasing the protection against rain.
By applying an aluminium rainscreen support szstem, conventional lightning rods can be omitted and an electromagnetic shielding of the building can be achieved.
Due to the wide choice regarding the system components of back-ventilated rainscreen façades, the fire protection requirements 'non-inflammable' and 'hardly inflammable' can be met according to country specific building legislation.
Fitting of the ATPFix bracket
It is possible to align the profiles accurately using the punched clamping spring. The ATPFix can compensate unevenness of up to 4 cm. The clamping springs hold the profile in place until it is fixed permanently in its final position with self-tapping screws.
Screwing the ATPFix bracket element with the profiles into the round holes creates a fixed point which non-positively dissipated the weight loads of the cladding into the masonry.
Movement due to thermal longitudinal expansion of the profiles is possible if the self-tapping screws are fixed in the slots. The wind pressure and wind suction loads are also transferred non-positively into the masonry.
Extra care must be taken during installation to ensure that the profiles are only used storey high. Only one fixed point should be provided per profile - otherwise sliding points must be created.
